NCKLS Job Responsibilites

Richard Miller, Technology Consultant

  • Consult with NCKLS member libraries to provide and maintain useful, functional technology within the library:
  • Recommend equipment, assist with purchasing, provide installation and maintenance services.
  • Monitor and maintain libraries’ local networks (LAN) and recommend Internet Connections.
  • Monitor and maintain libraries’ in-house wireless Internet access.
  • Resolve technology hardware and software  issues by use of on-site visits, remote computer access, email and telephone.
  • Assist libraries with their yearly E-rate application process.
  • Maintain NCKLS’ email lists.
  • Administer NCKLS’ database of system information.
  • Manage and administer DNS servers to provide content filtering for member libraries.

LaDonna Clark, Technology Trainer

  • Apply WordPress software updates, apply plugin and theme software updates, monitor websites, watch for security issues and work to resolve, install plug-ins and themes, create new websites as needed, perform training, provide phone, email and remote computer access for support in a multi installation version of WordPress for 35 system library websites
  • Create and analyze results of a yearly continuing education survey to member library staff, volunteers, and board members for NCKLS libraries
  • Organize and present computer training to NCKLS library staff
  • Provide support for software to member library staff by use of email, phone, or remote computer access

Duane Mayer, Technology Consultant

  • Recommend equipment, assist with purchasing, provide installation and maintenance services.

  • Maintain WAN between NCKLS and system libraries.
  • Administer NCKLS’ database of system information.
  • Manage and administer DNS servers to provide content filtering for member libraries.

Cherie Olson, Acquisitions

  • Keeping track of NCKLS libraries ESG and Local Funds, processing invoices, and keeping track of processing fees.
  • Sending monthly funds updates at the beginning of each month.
  • Sending the book order carts for the NCKLS book van and for NCKLS libraries on to Baker & Taylor through Verso
  • Receiving the book shipments, entering them into Verso, and printing routing slips.
  • Keeping Excel spreadsheets for all books from B&T and other invoices.
  • Entering records into Norcat for the Verso libraries and doing cataloging maintenance.

Denise Coon, Rotating Book Van

  • Deliver rotating books to 44 NCKLS libraries
  • Prepare books to be delivered to 15 long term care institutions
  • Check new books added to the rotating collection to make sure they are shelf ready
  • Fill supply orders for the NCKLS system libraries
  • Inventory/ordering/receive finishing supplies
  • Recording billing payments
