2026 Competitive Grant Resource Guide

Refer to the 2026 guidelines for identified areas of need and grant focus. Use the sub-questions listed to focus your response. Refer to the rubric for clarification.  

  • Summarize your project.   
      1. Is there an aspect of innovation in your facilities improvement? 
      2. Will facility improvement bring a needed service or other new feature?
      3. How does the furniture impact your library services?
      4. What will change in library impact by changing the current fixtures?
      5. What are the needed improvements?
      6. Will this project be something that continues into the future? 
         
         
  • Provide a project timeline and budget within a maximum six-month timeline. 
      1. Tell us about any resources you have lined up.
      2. Any planning you’ve done
      3. Community connections you’ve made to complete the project on time and on budget.
      4. Include contractor estimates, itemized supply costs, any bids received and pricing for items requested.
      5.  Include grant funds requested as well as any funds in-hand or in-kind resources.  
  • What are the outcomes for this project?   
      1. What change do you believe will occur in your library/community if NCKLS grants your library these funds? 
      2. How many will be impacted by this funding? 
      3. What will change in your community due to this funding? 
      4. Will this funding increase service levels? Programming opportunities? Library Use? 
      5. How will you determine if this project is a success?
